I went out with Frank Small at Xtreme Recovery & Towing for an assignment last week. Recovery is just a fancy way of saying repossess.
If I learned anything that day it’s that Frank and his crew are very, very fast. They backed their modified truck to the car, hopped out and 22 seconds later they were towing the car away. Yes, I typed that right… 22 seconds. Small told me his motto is “hook it and book it” in an effort to avoid confrontation. His goal is 15-30 seconds.
I probably can’t even tie my shoes in 22 seconds, let alone hook a car up to a tow truck.
The repo man sounds like a big, bad, scary guy. I was impressed when I saw him take a baby car seat out of the back seat of an unlocked car and leave it on the front porch before taking that person’s car away.
Unfortunately this was an in-and-out assignment… I wish I had more time to spend with these guys, but sometimes you have to shoot and move on.
yeah you could spend a lot of time on a project like this. maybe even make a whole television series about it.
